The Wild Guys
by Andrew Wreggitt and Rebecca Shaw
When four normal guys on a simple,
"get-acquainted" overnight hike get lost, they g
et
to know each other -- and themselves -- better than they ever imagined.
Faced with dangerous cliffs, torrential rains, bears, flatulence and a
missing crystal, they discover that being a "wild guy" is more
than beating drums and dancing around fires. Poking hilarious fun at the
men's movement, "The Wild Guys" also reveals deep truths about
men and their relationships. Laugh -- and perhaps even cry -- with "The
Wild Guys" as they hunt bunnies, guzzle beer, discuss comic strips,
and start to come to grips with being male at the turn of the century.
Producing "The Wild Guys" was a special treat for the Vanderhoof Community Theatre because one of the playrights, Andrew Wreggitt, grew up in the neighbouring town of Fraser Lake and took part in a VCT production in the early '70s! Many of the references to northern life in the play could have been taken straight off the streets of Vanderhoof!
