Production Date
Elk's Hall, Vanderhoof, BC
At the invitation of the local Rotary Club, the Vanderhoof Community Theatre provided the entertainment at the Rotary's "Diamond Night," a women-only annual fund raiser.
Three one-act plays focusing on difficult male/female relationships were performed, "Domestic Violence" by Frederick Stroppel, "Family Names" by Edna Pelonero, and "Morning Coffee" by Frederick Stroppel. All three plays were produced by Shelly Funk.
Domestic
Violence (Drama - 1m, 1f) Michael, a desperately unhappy man,
is at the brink of suicide. The reason: his wife Sandy is perfect. Too
perfect. She caters to his every whim and he is sick of it. Sandy tries
to prove that she is human and imperfect, but she can't. Michael finds
that he has to leave her to preserve his sanity, leaving Sandy in a desperate
situation of her own. (description from Samuel French, Inc.)
Family Names (Comedy - 2f) When Sheila decides to confess that she is "the other woman", screwing up the courage to confront the deceived wife is the easy part. Now she has to get past the wise-cracking receptionist and a labyrinth of family names to find the right person to hear her confession. A short, snappy, and very funny confrontation of mistaken identities.
Morning Coffee (Drama - 1m, 1f) Katy and David have been living together for five years, but now it's over. They can't stand each other. They have to split up, but who gets the apartment? Neither wants to leave and neither will give in, so the battle for territory is joined and all their anger and frustration pours out in a final summation of their rocky relationship. (description from Samuel French, Inc.)
All three plays are available through Samuel French Inc.
