We provide a safe haven Transition House for women and children
leaving an abusive situation. Staff is available 24 hours a
day and you have access to all basic necessities while in the
safe home. Crisis counseling is offered as well as education
on the dynamics of family violence and alternatives. Assistance
in accessing medical, legal, financial and social assistance
is offered and Women's Violence Counseling Services is offered
in Vanderhoof, Fraser Lake and Fort St. James.

We provide a Stopping the Violence
Counseling Program for women living in and
near the communities Vanderhoof, Fraser Lake, and Ft. St.
James, who have experienced sexual assault, violence in relationships,
or childhood abuse or violence and who:
are
19 years of age or older; or - where no other services are
available, are leading an adult life style and are under 19
years of age;
We
provide both individual and group counseling;
strictly
maintain client confidentiality; - respect a woman's right
to determine her own choices in her own way, and in her own
time;
believe
that the safety of women and children is more important than
keeping families together;
will utilize knowledge:
of power imbalances in our society that lead to women
being exposed to abuse or violence;
of
the impact and dynamics of abuse/violence; and
that
perpetrators are responsible for their actions;
liaise
with and make referrals to other local agencies providing
related services, such as children who witness abuse, family
therapist, art and play therapist, victim assistance programs,
alcohol and drug programs, school counselors, and health centres.

each child's needs.
Teaching of nonviolent ways to behave.
Stability through regular routines and care. Networking
with the child's school and assistance with studies.
Crisis counseling and supportive play while in safe home.
Recreational activities, field trips and special events.
Referral to Child/Adolescent Violence Counseling services.
