Vanderhoof's first jail was run
by the Provincial Police, before the Royal Canadian Mounted Police came to
the area. The structure was built in 1914, housed only one small cell and the
Officer actually lived in the remainder of the building! Today the building has
been restored and displays the original jail cell and office and the officers
quarters currently house a gift shop featuring arts and crafts created by
local artists. |
