About Hwy16 Internet

Hwy16 Internet is a British Columbia based Internet Service Provider serving the communities of Vanderhoof and Fort Fraser providing dial-up and wireless access to the Internet as well as site hosting services. The company also belongs to Open Source Solutions (OSS), a consortium of 6 B.C. ISP's, which is the largest private supplier of high-speed Internet connectivity to provincial government ministries and schools. Through this association Hwy16 Internet supplies wireless services to Fraser Lake Elementary Secondary School and the Fort Fraser Elementary School.

Hwy16 Internet was born to act as a host for the Nechako Access Network Organization (N.A.N.O.) who were losing their home with School District 91. The corporate name of 508533 British Columbia Ltd was registered on May 14th, 1996. The operating name of "Hwy16 Internet" was adopted shortly afterwards and the company went on line on July 8th, 1996.

Besides the aforementioned association with OSS, Hwy16 Internet at present services a large portion of the business sector and the general public, including - The District of Vanderhoof, Canfor Vanderhoof, Avison Management, Wingham Law Offices, Royal LePage Home Central, L&M Nechako Lumber, Nechako Stuart Association for Community Living, among others.

The company has also supplied low cost Internet access and/or presence to our Municipal Government, Public Library, the Vanderhoof District Chamber of Commerce, the Historical Society and First Nations Bands.
